OKEHAMPTON & DISTRICT TENNIS CLUB
Welcome to Okehampton and District Tennis Club! Here you can find out where we are, what facilities we offer, how to get in touch with us, and how to join.
The club meets at tennis courts beside the Okehampton College All-Weather Pitch. We share the use of the four floodlit tarmac courts with the College andOkehampton Community Recreation Association (OCRA). Car parking is available adjacent to the courts, and members are able to use the changing facilities in the OCRA Pavilion immediately behind the courts. Refreshments are on sale in the Pavilion during the day.
The Tennis Club offers two friendly club sessions of doubles play every week,when balls are provided and players swap partner after each set. Once a week in addition there is a Rusty Rackets session, free to members but also open to the public on a pay as you play basis.
Outside the club sessions members are able to book a court on - line at no charge, subject to availability.
Members have access to the password protected ‘Members’ Lounge’ on this site, where they can arrange games with other players and read news of upcoming matches.
We enter men’s and women’s teams in the Exeter and District Tennis League,and a mixed doubles team in the East Devon Tennis League. Friendly matches also take place against nearby clubs.
We aim to make tennis an enjoyable experience whether you are a rusty returner, a ‘social player’, or you are a keen competitive player. Tennis helpsyou keep healthy, fit, strong and agile, and has psychological benefits too!
Junior coaching will be returning in the near future. Players over the age of 14 can accompany a parent to club sessions.
The club coach Lisa Hutchins, LTA Level 2, is based in Okehampton and members can book group or individual tuition
